Bausch Datacom closes deal with Australian security solutions company Pacom Systems for the annual delivery of 3000 PSTN socket modems.
Bausch Datacom closes a deal with Pacom Systems for the integration of SM_H2 PSTN socket modules in the 8002 PACOM Edge security controller. A number of 3000 modules per year is forecasted for the years to come.
The SM_H2_3V3_V is a V.92 (56K) PSTN Socket Modem (64,5 x 26,5 mm), 3kV isolation, 3.3V power supply, based on a Conexant chipset with SIA protocol, Contact ID (CID) and speakerphone support for alarm equipment. Specific patches are written to enhance the module for voice and alarm applications. The module is the standard PSTN socket module that Bausch Datacom offers at a very competitive pricing.

Pacom's 8002 Pacom-Edge Controller represents a new generation hardware platform. The Pacom 8002 next generation controller is built using Pacom-edge technology. Pacom-edge represents a new family of devices enabling advanced security capabilities across an organization's Ethernet backbone. The 8002 Pacom-Edge Controller provides the opportunity to connect a number of optional expansion cards to provide additional and enhanced operational features. This range of optional expansion cards are available for the 8001 and 8002 Controllers to provide additional features and capabilities. Expansion cards conveniently plug into the Controller as "piggy-back" modules and use the Controller as a power source. When fitted, expansion cards are automatically configured. Expansion card firmware is also updated to the latest loaded version. Most expansion cards feature a number of diagnostic LEDs for simplified troubleshooting.

The 8209 Modem expansion card - based on the Bausch Datacom SM_H2_3V3_V socket modem - enables an additional back up form of communications with dial-up backup to Pacom .is, Base Station or Transit and/or alarm transmission to central station in CID or SIA formats. Also enables listen-in operation, where the 8001/8002 will initiate connection via PSTN with the integrated SM_H2 socket module to a GMS operator for audio from microphones connected to Controller outputs.
