Johnson Pump (Stork Pumps) uses the ADC Box RTU of Bausch Datacom to visualise their industrial process and water applications over the Internet.
The business of Johnson Pump is dedicated to pumps and providing solutions to the many unique ‘liquid’ applications of their customers. They offer a wide product range of pumps for all kinds of industrial and marine liquid transport (chemical, pharmaceutical, petroleum, food & beverage, process industry, paper & pulp, marine…). Johnson Pump believes in a ‘life cycle economy’: buying a pump is not just a one-off transaction, the pump has to keep running for a long time. Johnson Pump is therefore much more than just a pump manufacturer. They see themselves as a solution provider.
But…when pumps stop, so does everything. After all, pumps are the beating hearts of the industrial world. Johnson Pump is fully aware of this fact and since they combine advanced design technology, innovative production strategy and dedicated craftsmanship to create pumps that exactly meet all demands of its customers, they decided to offer more than just a pump. The result of this idea was the decision to create a web based platform to visualise the activities of a pump. And of course this also means the sending of alarms when the pump stops. In this project Bausch Datacom was asked to built a tailor made software platform inside the Bausch ADC Box RTU which is in fact an intelligent measuring device like a PLC . This RTU is connected to the industrial pump and communicates over GPRS with the web server of Johnson Pump.
The ADCBox  RTU ('Analogue-to-Digital Converter Box' ) with real time clock, 4AI, 8DI, 4DO and integrated GPRS modem is connected to the pump system and sends the data coming from the Digital and Analogue inputs to a central Bausch socket server, connected itself to the Johson Pump webserver to visualise the data over the Internet.

Johnson Pump, formerly called Stork Pumps, closes a partner agreement with Bausch Datacom to visualise their industrial water and proces applications over the Internet. The Bausch ADCBox RTU in the field sends the measured analogue and digital data coming from the industrial pumps to a Bausch Datacom Socket server. The web server behind the Bausch socket server to visualise the data over the Internet was built by Johnson Pump.

The ADC Box RTU which is connected to an industrial pump application in the field has 4 analogue inputs, 8 digital inputs and 4 digital outputs. These interfaces are all isolated. The RTU also has a real time clock and an integrated GPRS modem. It can be powered in two different ways: 1. by ac mains with input voltage range of 85 ~265 Vac / 120-370 Vdc and optional power backup by a rechargeable NiHM battery backup or 2. with long life battery pack (to 5 years).
The software application platform inside the ADC Box is tailor made for Johnson Pump : it is menu structured with configurable parameters : there are GPRS and TCP/IP server parameters and also ADC Box specific parameters such as Source Adress, Identification Id's, Date and Time, SMS Phone Numbers, AI info TX period, DI report hour, analogue input parameters, battery type,...

The measured data  (AI and DI) are presented as ASCII messages in a AI or DI Telegram Format and sent over GPRS to a central Bausch socket server via a TCP/IP socket in a GPRS link. More info on the ADC Box...

If you have a similar application in which you can use the ADC Box, call Bausch Datacom at (0032)16 46 12 88 and ask for Dominiek Truyers. When you need a professional pump solution or want to manage and visualise your industrial pump application please call Mr. Borgions, Sales Manager Belgium of the Johnson Pump Water Division on  tel.nr.
