InduBox GSM M4: Two decades of modem supply for Fluvius, leading Belgian electricity company. Bausch Datacom wins multiyear contract for the fourth time in a row!
For the fourth time in a row, Bausch Datacom secures a multiyear contract with Fluvius. Since 2003, Bausch Datacom has been a continuous sourcer for Belgian electricity company Fluvius, supplying mobile modems for the communication of meter reading of industrial customers (56-110 kVA)

Bausch Datacom continues to be the trusted supplier of external industrial modems for meter reading of industrial Customers (C&I market). We have been co-supplying mobile communication devices for Fluvius for almost 20 years. The InduBox portfolio continues to prove its robustness and reliability for heavy duty long term communication. The engine inside evolves alongside any new demands for metering modems. The InduBox GSM M4 is not only a device for transparant serial communication (RS-485), but also offers routing (over Ethernet port) and even RTU functionalities (IEC 60870-5-104/Modbus conversion).

For 20 years now, market leading meter brands such as iTron and Iskraemeco are relying on the quality and long life durability of Bausch Datacom modems. Recently, several hardware improvements have been made to keep the device up to date with international certifications and regulations.

The InduBox modem is a ruggedized 4G (LTE Cat. 1/M1 & NB IoT ) & GPRS modem with a wide range integrated Power Supply of 85-265 V. It has an RS-485 serial and Ethernet RJ-45 interface. The modem has a watchdog system to avoid blocking. But the InduBox GSM M4, the latest descendant of the InduBox family, is much more than a mere 4G modem for transparant communications.

One and the same modem can combine two essential features for meter reading: the reading of kWh numbers and the monitoring of energy parameters such as current, Voltage, Power etc. The modem acts as a Modbus (RTU or TCP) client for the meter and IEC 60870-5-104 Slave for the SCADA Master. Both applications (invoicing and monitoring) can be combined. A cost-effective solution to use all possible features of electricity meters for different Smart Metering applications. The modem can also be used as a plain router with NAT functionality up to 8 LAN devices.
