PSTN V.92 Modem The Bausch Proxima V.92 SIA is a V.92 PSTN modem in desktop housing with serial RS-232 port, specially designed to meet the stringent requirements for the Medical Services and Electricity Metering Industry as well as in Alarm Equipments such as continuous dial-in applications and alarm situations. The modem is in fact designed for all kind of remote or industrial sites with inconsistent environmental conditions. The modem is built around an embedded Bausch SM_H2 socket Modem with 3kV isolation, based on the Conexant (Harley 2) technology. The input voltage range of the Proxima V.92 SIA goes from 9 to 40 V AC-DC. The modem is fully regulated and comes with an external power supply. Thanks to the embedded SIA & Contact ID protocols the modem can be used as an alarm transmitter with serial RS-232 interface. For security reasons the modem supports selective Caller ID answering with disabled automatic answering (ATS0=0). The Proxima V.92 SIA modems are perfectly suited for remote industrial sites and whatever your application is, we can adapt the firmware to your needs. This is your everyday reliable and stable modem for general industrial use. The embedded software can be customised to your specific application.

Bausch Datacom, a leading designer and manufacturer of dial-up and wireless modems for Commercial and Industrial Systems has developped a complete family of external and embedded PSTN modems specifically to meet the stringent requirements for the Medical Services, Electricity Metering Industry and Alarm Equipments.
One of these external modems is the Proxima V.92 SIA with embedded SIA & Contact ID protocol for alarm equipments (see application notes below).
Inside the Proxima V.92 SIA modem we have implemented the Bausch SM_H2 Socket Module. This socket modem is a V.92 (56K) PSTN modem based on Conexant Harley 2 Technology. The module is ideal for embedded medical, metering and alarm applications since it offers very low operating power requirements, a small board space, a worldwide compliance and a 3 kV dielectric withstanding voltage. Specifically for alarm applications it supports the SIA alarm protocol and contact ID.
